What is the difference between Traditional and Modern worship?

It's a matter of style, really!  And the truth is a Traditional Service at one church can look very different than a Traditional Service at another.  The same thing goes for Modern or Contemporary worship.  At FUMC, both our services have their own unique personality and feel.  Traditional Worship here includes congregational singing from the Methodist Hymnal and performances from the piano, organ, choir, and wind ensemble.  We also use the Methodist liturgy, or order of worship.  Our Modern Service includes a live band performance of contemporary Christian music and maybe some children dancing up front.  The Modern Worship also had a simpler order of worship.  Both services feature sermons from our Pastors, Dr. Kevin Tully and Rev. Val Stewart, as well as a room full of friendly faces!

What about my kids?

During our 11:00 Traditional Service, the 11:15 Modern Service and the 1:00 Spanish Language Service we lead a Children's Church program for kids ages 3 (potty trained) to 2nd grade.  Children start with their parents in worship and then are dismissed right before the sermon.  We also provide "busy bags" for kids to pick up before worship starts that come with actvities to keep them busy during church.

Our Nursery is open for kids ages infant to 3 years during all services.  The nursery is located conveniently right next to the Sanctuary.

Visit our CHILDREN and YOUTH programs pages on the website for information about other activiteis including Sunday School and small groups.

What does it mean to be Methodist?

United Methodists believe in God's unmerited love, human dignity, conversion, tolerance, faith and good works. We believe in both spiritual holiness and social action.

We believe in the marriage of head and heart and that a reasonable and informed faith should be joined with compassionate involvement in the world.

As followers of Jesus we seek to serve those in need, support and care for one another and to grow in our faith through learning, service, and worship.

No matter our differences, we are united in our commitment to live out our Christian life by putting our faith and love into action.
