WHO WE ARE
OUR MISSION
Our mission is nothing less than “making disciples of Jesus Christ, for the transformation of the world”. It’s when people discover the life-changing difference that is found in being connected to God through Christ that lives are changed, families are changed, communities are changed, and the world is changed. We believe that God’s love and acceptance is offered to all through Jesus. We emphasize God’s grace, not judgment.
OUR VISION
We strive to be a church without walls. Jesus calls for us to go outside the walls to reach the lost and the broken. We make an effort to reach out to our community and world in many ways and being part of this community of faith provides countless opportunities for giving, sharing, and helping others.
OUR VALUES
As United Methodists, our theology is shaped by four emphases: scripture, tradition, reason and experience. We value science and inquiry; we are not afraid of learning new things, since we believe that growth and learning can lead us closer to knowing God.
FAQ
Have questions? We have the answers!
We are located in the heart of Waxahachie, TX! Our address is 505 W. Marvin Ave.
FUMC hosts three services each Sunday. You can enjoy a traditional worship in the Sanctuary at 8:30 am or 11:00 am. If you prefer a more contemporary worship, our Modern service meets at 11:15 in our Fidelis Hall.
We provide guest parking at the front of the building facing Marvin Ave.
Our nursery is open during all services and during the Sunday school hour at 9:45 am. Sunday School classes for children ages 3 to 18 happen each Sunday from 9:45 to 10:45 am.
During the 11:00 Traditional worship and the 11:15 Modern worship we host a Children's Church program for kids in 3rd grade. Children begin worship with their families and are dismissed for Children's Church during the service.
Traditional Worship at FUMC includes congregational singing from the Methodist Hymnal and performances from the piano, organ, choir, and wind ensemble. We also use the Methodist liturgy, or order of worship.
Our Modern Service includes a live contemporary Christian music band and maybe some children dancing up front. The Modern Worship also has a more casual order of worship than the traditional service. The Modern Service has people of all ages, but it's especially popular with young families.
Our adult Sunday school classes meet every Sunday from 9:45 to 10:45 am. You can find out more about each class on our Small groups page. If you would like a recommendation for a group to try, please reach out to our Associate Pastor, Rev. Val Stewart.
We have several ways to get involved in serving the community with FUMC. Check out our Serve page for current opportunities. We would love to bring you on board!
Each service has its own personality. Folks attending our traditional worship usually dress in their "church clothes" ranging from business casual to Sunday best.
Our modern worship service is more casual and you'll see folks in shorts. We welcome you to come as you are!
WE LOOK FORWARD TO MEETING YOU
